Guinea pig nibbling on her privates

Hi,

My guinea pig has been nibbling on her privates until it bleeds for over two months now. Since she started developing a bald patch on her flank, my vet suspected that she has a cyst. She becomes very vocal and aggressive with her cage mate when she is in season. Then I started seeing white discharge from her privates. Brought her to the vet again and said that she has pyometra and a small cyst after ultrasound and x-ray. We then went ahead and got her spayed. One week after surgery, she started nibbling her privates until it bleeds again. Does anyone here knows why is this happening?

I am very sorry Is she on adequate pain relief? I’m just wondering if she could be in some pain and discomfort after her spay? Either way, I would consult with your vet again as it isn’t normal behaviour x

Hi Claire,
I thought the same too but then again, it was the same prior to the surgery. Her weight post surgery has gone up by 100g so I'm not sure if it's related to pain but I will definitely make an appointment with the vet for this weekend.
