Guinea pig neutered

6 weeks is what my vet said, and what everyone has always said on here. I think 6 weeks is said because it gives a definite no risk time.

Ohh that’s good haha! I bet he will 😆does he jump her when she’s in heat?
I Havnt seen him try in a long time, she is spayed due to a uterus tumour aswell. Don't know if that makes a difference, I don't think it does. But yea I have a spayed sow and neutered boar 👍

I got my guinea pig neutered a month ago, is it best to wait 6 or 8 weeks to put with girls?
You should wait at least 6 weeks to be safe and ensure there’s no infection or harm done to the newly done surgery especially around other pigs as sometimes they scuffle. But I have heard someone on a forum somewhere on this site put their newly neutered male with four females 3 days post surgery and everyone was happy and okay.

When I had my first male I was so paranoid I waited 7 weeks to be doubly sure :)) I would wait 6 weeks now

Definitely wait the full 6 weeks to ensure there are no live sperm lingering in his body.
He is going to be in heaven when he meets the ladies!

Can we see photos of him?

16 wife-pigs :yikes: :yikes:
You don't want 16 pregnant sows, so definitely wait the full six weeks. Lucky boy! (Or not - imagine 16 grumpy wives!)
There are no known instances of boars over six weeks post-neuter getting a sow pregnant, but there is one of a 5weeks post-neuter boar doing so.
@trioguineapig3 , I just realised in the cold light of day that I must have misread your original post last night, I thought you'd put 6 or 5 weeks. Sorry! Must have been something on my phone screen or specs  :fog:

Wow, he’s a stunning chap. He’s just going to be so excited and exhausted when he meets his ladies.
