I have 2 male guinea pigs, I was out of town for a long time and the person I had watching them did not clean their cage much and now they have poop all over their nail’s and they look really short compared to usual and I was wondering if the poop hurts their feet or prevents nail growth?

Hi

Please gently soak and workd off any firmly stuck poos off; if they are very dried out, they may take several rounds.

The nails may have been cut closer to the quick than you would do? I can unfortunately not comment on that aspect due to lack of information.

I was able to get it almost all off! They did not like me trying to scrape it off so after a while i decided to give them a little break and tomorrow I will get the rest that’s stuck on the bottom.

That’s what i’m thinking too, they’re due for a checkup soon anyways so I will ask them about it too.
