Hi there i have two guinea pigs they are male and female and lived together for about 6 months however they had a fight which upon my female (Beatrice) lost an eye and was operated upon. They have lived in seperate cages side by side since and seem to be quite happy chatting through the bars. It is now 6 months on and last night Beatrice was making a sort of bird calling noise i never heard her make before, can anybody give me some information on why she would make this noise?

It's called chirping, they don't do it very often and nobody's quite sure why they do it. Here's a link to guinea lynx you may find this useful.

Senior Guinea Pig
It's chirping or singing... it's supposed to be pretty rare. Out of the 3.5 years I've owned my guinea pigs, I have only heard it once. I have no clue what it's purpose is... she looked very trancelike while she was chirping like a bird, and then she just went back to doing her usual guinea pig business!

Yea chirping is quite rare, I only heard 1 of mine do it once
