Around a little under a year ago, my guinea pig lost one of his bottom teeth from chewing on the bars of his cage - he does it for food, attention, whatever very regularly and I can do little to stop it

It hadn’t grown back - there’d been no tooth in sight (to me), and this morning he managed to lose the second one the same way. (He still has both of his top teeth perfectly intact)

They both broke down at the root, and while he seemed fine with only one, I’m terrified of the consequences of missing both

He’s been eating and drinking, though I’m not sure how well. He’s also been turning down his hard treats. I’m looking to take him to a vet soon, but the earliest anyone can get him in is Thursday

He’s about five years old and a lone pig (It’s a long story - I am aware of the fact it should not be done whatsoever) and I’m at a loss for what to do here or help him.

Does anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance

Sorry to hear your boy has lost his teeth. I would recommend switching to weighing him once daily, just to be sure he’s getting enough hay into him. For piggies with dental issues, chopping veg into matchsticks can help them.

If he’s losing weight daily then you will have to step in and top him up to help him maintain. Hope Thursday comes round soon.

I’ll also tag @furryfriends (TEAS) who has extensive experience of caring for piggies with dental issues.

I’m sending you link on the GuineapigLynx website all about broken teeth. I hope thry both grow back and wear correctly against the top incisors. This website is mainly US based and you can look for a piggy Davy vet if needed.
Guinea Lynx :: Broken Teeth

If neither teeth grow back you may need to have his two top teeth regularly filed by a vet
In the meantime I would grate his hard veggies or cut them inside strips. You can offer plain porridge oats and a little mashed banana in some mushed pellets. It is important that you weigh daily at the same time and keep a note of his daily weights. You are looking for a stable weight within 30 gm difference either way but no downward tren.
If your piggie is losing weight then you need to step in with syringe feeding to maintain a stable weight

Good luck
