I have a 7 month old boar, he's developed a broken voice when squeaking for food, it kind of sounds like he's breaking through a barrier and then squeaks louder, I've also noticed he's sneezing a bit, can they get hay fever? his brother is fine and in the same cage, he's eating and drinking and eyes are bright, and is popcorning like a madman at dinner time, and poops are fine and he's the same ish weight, I've called the vet who are calling me back later, but has anyone had the same? thanks :)

@Pebbles26 If it's happened suddenly then there could be a medicial reason for it. But I have had pigs who don't, or can't wheek.

I've also had a few whose wheeker seems to wear out when they get older. My Jon Snow has a pathetic wheeker now, he huffs for most of it and occasionally a squeak comes out.

That’s reassuring.
Merab also sounds as if her wheek is wearing out.
I took her to the vet in case it was an infection but all was clear. She did find her wheek when a thermometer was stuck up her bum though!
Most of the time she sounds like Jon Snow.
She’s 6 this month

One of my new ladies has a very hoarse broken wheek that seems normal for her. Like has been said though it if was sudden then I would just have her checked by the vet.

My late Willow had a broken wheeker. She would really go for it but only a rasp would come out. Donald's seems to be working its way out as well and seems a little raspier these days

Hi! If in doubt, please have your piggy vet checked.

The voice can break and turn into a hoarse whisper as piggies become older; I've had a few of them who have lost their 'big wheek'.
