Guinea pig likes dog food?

Evening everyone,
I’ve recently noticed one of my girls likes to eat dry dog food. Whenever I get them out she’ll always run over to the dog bowl and start eating it. I remove the bowl now when they’re out but I don’t know if it would of caused any harm. She only had a few bits.

I won't be good for them, I doubt itl do any harm just that once, but try stop them eating it

Thanks, if I see her doing it I take it away right away. Just don’t understand why she likes it so much x

Please don’t let her eat them. There are pellets specifically for piggies with what they need in them. I’m not sure of what’s in dry dog food but I wouldn’t feed it. They’re different animals with different physiology

Ensure the dog food bowl is put out of her reach before you let your pigs out. Guinea pigs are herbivores and cannot eat meat based products. Watch out for signs of a tummy upset and ensure she gets plenty of hay to help her guts rebalance.

As @Merab's Slave so aptly says "Guinea Pigs are appetites with fur" and they will eat practically anything if it tastes nice. Best keep the dog food out of the way from now on.
