Hi everyone, today my 5 month old boy had castration surgery, which went fine. He came home & everything was fine, surgical site looked good. Tonight however he has started leaking urine. Does anyone know if this is a pain response or have any experience with this? Could it be because it’s uncomfortable for him when I pick him up? I have given him meloxicam this evening & he is eating & drinking.

Poor Rupert, I hope it is a temporary blip, but I would get in touch with the vets to to get advice x

I would contact your vet for advice. It is not something that happened with either of the piggies i have had neutered. x

Hi!

Please contact the vet clinic promptly. This is not a normal side effect of a neutering operation; in fact, this should not happen.

(a lot of the practical care measures in the mobility guide also apply to incontinent piggies)

:agr: Please contact the vets who neutered him & get him seen as soon as you can.

My [exotic] vet said some urine dribbling can be normal in the first day or so while the area is inflamed & sore. As piggy is otherwise fine I will monitor him & see if it resolves on its own. It was scrotal technique so he had pain relief & antibiotics.

I hope that it settles down soon.
