Junior Guinea Pig
At the moment I have 4 guineas in my bedroom. 2 un-neutered, separated boars and 2 girls. They were in a stacked c&c cage, with Piglet and Patch separated on the bottom and Peppa and Candy at the top. I kept coming home to find Piglet just walking around my room having escaped from his cage. I tried changing the cage around and guinea pig proofed the room but he kept escaping. I didn't mind too much until a few days ago he got from his cage into Patch's cage. They had a fight and Patch was very shocked, he hid and barley moved for about 2 days. I could see Patch couldn't tolerate being near Piglet for much longer so I moved Piglet into a shop brought cage and moved Patch to the top floor and the girls to the bottom as it is a larger space.
Piglet has been out of his cage most of the time for floor time and I made barriers across the c&c so he couldn't get to the girls but today he managed to get in there. He was only in there a few minutes so I'm hoping the girls aren't pregnant. He wasn't anywhere near them when I found them. The problem I have now is that he is stuck in a small cage because I can't risk him getting to the girls again. Has anyone else had the problem of guinea pigs escaping from a c&c cage? Or have any ideas of how to give him a larger space? Thank you in advance.
