Do you guys have guinea pig insurance? What company do you use? Any links very welcome. Thanks

I don't have guinea pig insurance as it's more expensive every year than it was when I had a pig that needed a lot of help ! But it depends how many you have and whether they are prone to infections etc . xox

Mine don't, I personally don't see the point as you have to pay an excess and half the time you have to pay up front and they pay you back later so I just save instead!

All mine are insured with Exotic Direct and I don't regret it at all. It's expensive, especially as I have 9 but worthwhile for piece of mind.

Last year Itsy had 2 mammary tumours removed and a reoccurant chin abscess and the total bill in the end was around £1000 (several chunks of £200 something). They paid each chunk within a few weeks and I just paid £50 excess once as claim was just one.

Personally I wouldn't go without it but know some people prefer to save.

Yes - I may feel the same when I need to renew my policy.

I do not have my eight piggies insured. I have looked into getting insurance for them at Exoticsdirect, but it comes to either £308 or £408 for just my three youngest pigs, and the excess is now £65. So far (fingers crossed!) none of their treatments has cost more than £50.

I don't have my two insured. That is really because we have a secure amount to dedicate to any needed vet bills.
But if we were short of vet money, I would insure. :)

i have them insured with exotics direct. our vet takes payment directly from the insurance and we pay anything left afterwards. i hadn't needed it before eddie became ill last november. his bill was £587 over just less than a month. the insurance paid the majority of it. all they didn't pay was the excess (£50 for each separate condition - dental and kidney disease/failure), and about £4 for the recovery food.

it worked out well for us. they were really good. better than we expected. but i still have to save taxi costs to get to the vets and back each time which is alot!

I think I will leave insurance as my parents say that they are prepared to pay for veterinary treatment but in the future if they have ongoing health problems ... then I will consider taking it out! Thanks a lot for all your replies!
