New Born Pup
I've never posted on this forum before so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place but I was hoping for some advice about my rescue pig Patch. Patch is approximately 2 years old and a week ago she had to have an emergency spay because she had pyometra. The first few days after the spay she was doing really well, and was on metacam twice per day. However, on Thursday, she started to take a turn for the worse (sitting really still in the cage and turning her head, wincing, squeaking and breathing heavily when I tried to pick her up.) We took her back to the vets but he said that she seemed fine and he gave her an injection of morphine. After this she seemed to get better.
Yesterday morning we took her off the metacam and had a check-up at the vets and they said that she was doing really well and no more metacam was needed. She initially seemed fine and was back to her usual self, but this afternoon she is acting like she was on Thursday, but also making a weird whimpering noise, so we have given her more metacam.
Is this normal? I have never had to get a guinea pig spayed before so I have no idea how long the recovery process should be. I'm just a bit worried as she seems to have taken a huge step back today.
