Hi :)
I'm in the process of getting new Guinea Pigs as pets (so excited) but I'm having a real hard time picking a hutch!

Ideally id like one with a pull out tray and on raised legs. I can't seem to find a hutch where most of the reviews agree its worth buying!

Any advice would be most appreciated :) thanks!

Have a word with @The Hutch Man on here, his workmanship is first class and we have a few contented piggy slaves who have bought from him. :tu:

Hi, when do you propose getting the pigs?
This time of year is really cold and is not ideal putting them in a hutch, unless it is a car free well insulated garage.
Maybe you could research c&c cages for indoors?

How old are your new piggies? I would not risk having them outside if you live in the UK its to cold for them now as If they have been used to being indoors if your getting them from a pet shop they will not be used to the cold. A garage (without a car/motorbike) or a shed would be fine to put the hutch in just make sure they have lots of warm dry bedding :)
Also we have a lot of member who have been advised to buy a hutch by the pet shops only to find out they are too small. I have the bluebell hidaway hutch from pets at home it does not have a tray but if you line it with stick on lino tiles from the pound shop or DIY shop it makes cleaning out very easy and the hutch lasts a lot longer my hutch is 5ft long please buy the biggest hutch you can find and afford. If your piggies have to go outside if you are here in the UK then a weather cover for your hutch is highly recommend it not only stops the bedding getting wet and the wind etc but it also Makes your hutch last longer too :)
Also.....hi and welcome to this fab and friendly forum :)
Where are you getting your piggies from?

Hiya, I would recommend the hutch man and also this fab cage on ebay which you can also buy with a run and hutch cover:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4FT-LARGE...pplies_Small_Animals&var=&hash=item3ccb796026. I would buy a ramp tunnel as guinea pigs are not good with ramps! I would recommend getting the cover that comes with it, it looks so much better than my scratch and newton one! Also ebay sell snugglesafe heat pads at a bargain(pets@home sell for £22!) heat them up in the microwave and they will last 10-12 hours! I would recommend keeping the hutch in a shed or garage. I have also put bubble wrap over the outside of the doors and space blanket ( emergency blanket from Poundland) on the roof and inside of the doors. (The emergency blanket will reflect back heat i.e. heat pads heat)
This clip helped me a lot!
I hope this helps!

What about a Pigloo? They are made of double-walled plastic and are supposed to be very warm. Being plastic they are maintenance-free and easy to clean.
They cost £99 I think and you can get covers for them at £15. There is a website where you can order them. www. Pigloo.com. As mentioned above, I wouldn't put piggies outside at this time of year, especially after they've been living inside a nice warm rescue centre or pet shop, or whatever.

Hi everyone! Thanks for all your advice and help!
I'm planning to keep them in a hutch, inside our house until its warmer, then move them outside.
I'm getting the piggies from a breeder at the beginning of January :)
Was extremely hard picking which ones, but I managed it in the end :D

Hi I just made a 3 stack of hutches on a stand for a member to be used indoors for their piggies.
If you drop me a line at [email protected] I can send you some images of my work.

Only to happy to help and thanks for the recommendations guys!
