Hey guys! I’m looking to get some guinea pigs in the next few months and house them in a 7x5ft shed with a hutch also inside of it. I was just curious as to what the housing requirements are in terms of how many I would be able to house in there at one time? Want the best possible life and experience for them so want whatever amount to have more than enough room! Thank you!

Hey welcome to the forum! So nice to have you here.

Depends on the size of the hutch used.

My current shed is 8ft x 6ft with a 5ft hutch inside. You can only have as many piggies as can fit in the hutch if they are going to be locked into it at any time. My piggies get locked in the hutch at night for safety and warmth.
However, if the piggies are Male, then it doesn’t matter how big it is, you can still only have two boys. Boys need to be kept strictly in pairs. Attempting more than two boys together will be a disaster.

A 5ft hutch will fit two piggies (two boars or two sows)
A 6ft hutch would fit two boars, or possibly three sows. (Or two sows and a neutered boar). It is better to underfill though so they have more room.
