My baby guinea pig has her Front pay tucked up to her side she still runs and plays with the others but she don’t use it and it is really swelling up next to the elbow. I picked her up to check on it and when I feel it she cry’s. I need help. I am from Craig Colorado and I don’t know of any vets that would look at her and tell me what is wrong. Is there a way I could cast it myself? If so how do I do that she is only 3 weeks old.

Your piggy needs to see a vet for diagnosis, treatment and pain relief. I am afraid there is nothing you can’t yourself (we do not recommend any home treatments as you can so easily make a problem worse) other than see a vet

Below is a link to Guinea Lynx which can help you find a vet in your area

I went to the vet today 1pm mst. He said there was a mass but it is not broken he wanted to try her on some antibiotics see that will work then if not she will have to go back. He said her Weight was not where it was supposed to be at 3 weeks old, I informed him her brother was bigger then her. He said let’s see if this helps. When I got her back home she was happy and eating all her food. So I have to wait and see.

Has she been given any pain relief?

Is she eating plenty of hay?
Ensure you weigh all your piggies every week as part of routine care, but that if and when there are health concerns, you switch to weighing them every day so you can more closely monitor hay and/or syringe feed intake.

Please do also confirm that the boar(s) have been separated from sows if the boars are also three weeks of age. Boars must be separated from sows at 3 weeks of age or 250g in weight, whichever comes first, otherwise they will get their mothers and sisters pregnant
