Hello guys, I'm new to this site but I thought I would give it a shot if it meant i could receive some advice to help my guniea pig. I just noticed yesterday that both sides of my guinea pigs ear has really dry skin, and under the ear it seems to already be raw flesh. It's very red and seems to be spreading. I will appriciate any advice given to me. For now I read I can put Vaseline on the spot to treat it. So I'm doing that currently.

Very dry, flaky skin that is scabbing, especially around the face could be ringworm or another kind of fungus!
Defo recommend a vet visit to be sure though! But if it is fungus it can be zoonotic so be sure to use gloves or wash hands very well after handling and give the cage a good clean with Milton or F10 :) xx
Could you get a photo at all?

Aww poor little thing... defo could be ringworm or fungus.. . Hope the vet can fit them in before it spreads... mine had it and I felt awful when I didn't notice it and she had quite a large wound.. it cleared up quickly with the correct treatment from the vets.. good luck

Thank you all so much for your advice, it means so much to me. I do care for my little guy big time so I will defiently be taking him to the vet!

it does look fungal. Please make sure you practice very high standard hygiene as some types of fungal skin problems can be contagious, both to the other piggy/piggies and to you! It can be very easy to treat but you need to make sure you disinfect the cage/hutch fully to ensure the contamination doesn't continue
