Hello, I recently adopted my now 8 month guinea pig and for the past month I had him he has been overall very healthy. Now yesterday I bought a New Guinea pig a baby that’s about 2 months and I attempted to bond them. Now he started to display normal guinea pig behavior when bonding and overall it was fine.
Now I decided to part them for the night as I felt uncomfortable keeping in the same cage immediately.
But ever since I separated them my older guinea pig has been letting out high pitches squeaks non stop and showed other odd behavioral signs.
He attempted to squeak this morning but it sounded so raspy and different. Should I be concerned ?
Can anyone give me any advice for bonding my 2 guinea pigs

Hi!

Please do not separate boars once you have started bonding they are not fighting. You can leave them overnight in their bonding pen, but unfortunately boars need to always start back in square one after each bonding session, which is very upsetting for them, even more so for babies that are not wired to be on their own.

Please take the time to read our bonding and our boar guides before you put your piggies back together.
Here are the links:

What to check and look out for in new guinea pigs (vet checks, sexing, parasites&illness) (at the age your baby is, you have to waive quarantine anyway; but keep an eye out for any of the common pet shop and breeder problem issues in the coming weeks. Since they are all contagious problems, you will have to treat both boys)
Please always double-check the gender of any piggies before bonding: Sexing Guide

Please give your older boy a careful once-over in case the weeking was more than just upset at the separation. It is very likely that he is simply hoarse!
