I was brushing my guinea pigs hair when I noticed at his area (where the pee and poo comes out of...) had some hair in it. I got it out... but is this normal? I have noticed he's been getting a lot stuck in there so I'm checking daily to see if anything is in there. I'll also check my other boy. He hasn't gotten anything stuck yet.

If this is happening regularly, it sounds like he needs a bum trim. I wrote a guide to guinea pig hair cutting and bum trims are included in this. I can't link it in on this device but it can be found under the 'Daily Guides" thread. Someone will be along soon who can link it in for you.

Boars scent mark - they drag their bottoms along the ground so finding hair, bedding, hay in the anal sac is not unexpected.

The tiny scent gland is located just in front of the genitalia, so both genders but especially boars wipe their bum on the floor regularly for scent marking purposes. Their sense of smell is estimated to several hundred times stronger than that of humans and they are territorial in their denning area. For boars with a much stretched larger anal sac area between the descended testicles, this means that all kind of debris collects in there which usually includes hairs, hay, loose bedding etc. Some boars are much muckier than others and never more so than during teenage when their testosterone output is highest.

Please check the bum area weekly and clean it every 1-4 weeks depending on how mucky your individual boy is. Also check the penis and penis shaft regularly as smegma builds up around the penis and hairs can make their inside and sling around the penis. Not to speak of hardened semen fluid ('boar glue').
