This isn't really health related, but I haven't found a better matching sub-forum. Anyway it isn't an urgent question, I'm just curious about your experiences.

How long would you say that guinea pigs grow in length?
I know that it's not possible to give an exact age, but I always felt that most piggies stop growing when they are about 1 year old. If they came from a neglect situation, the growing phase could be a bit longer, like 1.5 years, when I got them around the age of 1 year . But at the age I would have thought that a guinea pig is fully grown.

I'm asking because my Odi was extremely small when I got him. He is a rescue piggy, so his age is not exactly known, but I was told that he was between 2 and 2.5 years at that time. He is supposed to be born in May.
But I just watched a video from his first week and he was so much smaller than he is know. And I'm not talking only about his bum.
He is bigger overall.

But is it possible that a more than 2 year old guinea pig can still grow in length?

I believe that guinea pigs generally stop growing around 15 -18 months of age so I don't think a two year old would grow in length. May be your boy is younger than what you think?

This is an interesting topic. I think it is hard to measure how long a piggy is as they change their length all the time from potato to furry sausage. And if they don't feel like getting up, they stretch a bit further than you expect to get a bite of food.

Edit: They are pretty much a furry slinky! :))

That's true and I never tried to measure the actual length of a piggy, but not all piggies are the same size, some are smaller, some bigger.
In my group Billie and Bonny are really big girls, Tessy and Vicky are much smaller.
At the beginning Odi looked small compared to Tessy, now he looks bigger. I used to think that he just looked bigger, because he had put on some weight ... okay, more than some. ;)
But he is definitely much bigger than in the first video (compared to Tessy).

That would be great. I know that age is only one factor in their life expectancy, but still... :D
