Hi I just recently lost my senior pig ashley suddenly this morning after a bad case of diarrhea I genuinely have no idea what went wrong I have another older pig BJ who is perfectly fine and was eating the same food as ashley so I’m so confused what happened to my baby girl besides being shaken up about her sisters passing she’s eating and moving around just I can tell she a little quiet, What can I do to help my last pig with her grief making sure she doesn’t get lonely and depressed, I know I need to spend a lot more time then normal with her but I need genuine advice or any tips you have used in this situation yourselves! Photos below are of my angel Ashley!

Hi

BIG HUGS

I am very sorry about your loss. It is never easy between your own grieving and the worries over and wish to do right by your remaining piggy.

You may find the very practical but sensitive advice and information in the guide links below very helpful. They look at various aspects of companionship, enrichment and how to spot when a piggy is transferring their social species needs onto you or becoming depressed in much more depth than I can in a single post.

Hi I'm so sorry for your loss but as a wonderful guinea mum that you are it's lovely that you are more concerned about BJ. I'm not expert but as you say more interaction and monitor weight changes, eating and drinking more closely. Think the other day someone said that their intense stage of grief lasts around 4/5 days.
Be kind to yourself also and extra cuddles will do you both good 🌈
