Hi there TGPF, we had our boys on the floor mat whilst we cleaned out their cage this morning, however my partner quickly noticed that our smallest pig, Joey, was munching on something plastic-y; she quickly scooped him up and tried to check what it was, and noticed a small amount of black plastic in his mouth that he was chewing, a little longer than a fingernail's length in size - We use cable ties to connect our C&C squares for portability, but we're extremely worried about him having eaten this - We did try to get the plastic out of his mouth, but he just devoured it!

This is the same guinea pig we've had to take to the vets recently (Check my post history for more info).

Should we be worried? Does this constitute a vet trip?

Keep an eye on him for now and if he starts acting out of the ordinary then get him to the vet. Hopefully he will pass it okay.

Perhaps cut the zip ties short so he can't get an end to chew on.

Will do - We've also done that, cut the ties so that they're far shorter than they already were... Cheeky little !

Yes I’ve got a naughty chewer here too, always managing to find what he shouldn’t the beast! I agree with Siikibam.
Try not to worry though, I have to constantly check everything with my Luigi, he’s got the eyes of a hawk when it comes to things he shouldn’t have!

I agree - keep an eye but hopefully it’ll be fine.
I also have a chewer. He doesn’t do zoomies much (the other piggy does) but when he spots something he shouldnt have, he is off! Thanks to Dexter, I have a dustpan which no longer has it’s rubber strip along the front and teeth marks all along the handle
