We left our piggies alone for one minute, (in their cages separated by grids that they’ve had no problems with up until now) and Peanut broke free from his side and got into a huge scuffle with Pumpkin. There were pieces of hair ripped out and unfortunately Pumpkin got bitten and is now bleeding. What do we put on it? Should we get separate cages and stack them or something? Pictures attached.

Idk if this means anything but he’s just been sleeping and rearranging his position and then sleeping again. Is he just tired or is it because of the fight or his wound or something? Does this signal pain?

Sorry I can’t help but this guide might have helpful info and I’m sure someone experienced will have more to say.

Bonds In Trouble

Please don’t stack the cages. They need the interaction through the bars. You’ll just have to make sure that the divider is secure. If it’s a c&c could you separate them completely but still have them next to each other?

Perhaps clean the wound with some saline water. Keep an eye on it.

I am very sorry.
Please see a vet tomorrow. Right now you can use saline solution (which you can make at home in a pinch) for disinfection.

Your boys still need each other for ongoing stimulation and interaction in next door cages or with a divider that they cannot get through but where they can still communicate on all levels - scent, body language and vocalisation. this is important for their long term mental health and wellbeing. But please take the time to think things through. For further possible options please see the last chapters in this guide here: Boars: Teenage, Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?

What about after the saline? Do I put Neosporin or something like that or just leave it as it is?

The saline is perfectly enough. Just leave it. Because of the faster metabolism, guinea pig wounds heal very quickly.
The one issue is a potential abscess in a deep bite (hence seeing a vet for a check). It is impossible for me to see whether it is a full on deep double needle prick bite or more like a slash from a glancing blow.
