Hi, I am having a similar issue with my little guy for the past 3 days. Bonbon is about 3 years old, and we have had him for 2 months. He was playful and eating quite fine, up until this Wed morning, when he started doing this gagging action. We have gone to the vet, who checked his teeth, took x-rays and almost everything seemed fine. They mentioned he might have a little gas which looks like GIS. They gave him injections and he is on a lot of medications and critical care. I notice he is able to eat some lettuce and a little tomato after we give him the medicines, but otherwise he keeps doing the gagging action at other times (even when not eating). To me, it somewhat looks like it has something to do with the teeth / he is trying to remove something stuck in his mouth, but the vet checked him for teeth issues and doesn't look like anything is wrong.
Does anyone have a clue of what's happening?

I’m sorry your boy is feeling under the weather. It’s always best to start a new thread so I’ll move your post to your own one. Someone with more experience will be along in good time to help answer your questions.

Just a few questions. What medications is he on? What injections was he given? And did the vet check the teeth at the back or just the incisors?

I would switch to weighing him once daily at the same time. You may need to step in and syringe feed him to help him maintain his weight. I’ll also link to experienced vets. I know how difficult it is to find a good vet from the experience of other US posters on here. Hopefully your boy will be sorted soon.

Thank you for creating the new thread (I will keep that in mind).
The vet checked his back teeth as well, but also mentioned that sometimes they might require to sedate him in order to do a full dental exam. That would be the last resort if he still doesn't feel better with all the medications.
These are the medicines we are giving him twice a day - Buprenorphine (pain reliever), doxycycline (infection), TMS, metronidazole, meloxidyl (once a day)
And this is one we give him subcutaneously (thrice a day) - metoclopramide

He was also given some fluids and the same injection at the vet on Thursday and Friday. They took his blood sample too, but nothing major was found there either.

We have been syringe feeding him for the last 2-3 days as well. He doesn't willingly take it, but we manage to feed him. He was eating some veggies yesterday, and also tried picking up some hay by himself, but was not able to eat the hay. I can see that he is hungry, but just not able to eat.
Today, he has not been eating much veggies either. I did notice that he is able to eat small bits of lettuce, tomatoes. He finds it a little difficult to eat carrots, even though he wants to (which is why I feel it might be something related to his teeth).

All of the medications, injections and frequently picking him up is definitely stressing him out a lot. Hope we are able to find a solution soon :(

Thank you for getting back on this. Bon Bon seems to be getting a little better. He is not doing the gagging action since the last 2 days. He is also eating his veggies and hay now. He is still on his medications till he gets his complete appetite back. I will keep you all posted about his progress.

Thank you for the support!
