hello! i noticed one of my guinea pigs have somewhat reddish feet in a particular spot on his foot. it’s smooth, there are no sores, his nails have been trimmed but it’s kind of red. I'm not sure if I'm overreacting or what but it seems a bit weird. do all guinea pigs have this, or could it be a beginning of something bad? i saw someone saying on a different website that if i wash his feet and give him a bath it should go away, anyone know more on this?

Hello,

please have him seen by a vet to confirm if there’s a problem going on. I’m more than happy to offer advice if there’s an issue (my piggy overcome feet problems) but I’m in no position to initially diagnose.

what bedding are you using? What type of cage is he in?

we have fleece and he lives in a 4x2 c&c cage. unfortunately money is tight but me and my family will try our best, thanks for the help. may i also mention that a couple of times he was on his tippy-toes trying to get on top of his hidy for some strange reason, which was when we saw the bottom of his feet. thank you again : )

Speak to the vet and see if they’d let you pay the cost in installations. Unfortunately guinea pigs aren’t as cheap as they’re made out to be. Especially in the US where vet fees can be even higher and finding an experienced vet can also be hard. Good luck and hope he’s sorted soon. 🤞🏾
