Guinea pig feast

That is inspired! Why didn't I think of that? May have to try that one out. It will certainly keep them stimulated. I am always looking for new ways.

Kids are good at thinking outside the box!

I love the way your daughter interacts with those piggies, she is so caring.
She loves them so much, I’m so happy she does because she actually wanted a hamster, but I like guinea pigs better and know more about them so we got piggies. Now she says she only wants guinea pigs for the rest of her life lol.

What a great idea! May have to steal this idea. My kids would get a kick out of this!
If they have Barbie furniture that is always a favorite to let the piggies “play” on at our house. My daughter Rose loves to set up little towns and playgrounds for the piggies. We just make sure there is nothing the piggies can eat or choke on.

I had my first guinea pigs when I was 12, I'm 60 now and still love them as much as I did then. I had them on and off through my life as time and circumstance allowed. My children had hamsters and guinea pigs growing up. I never really took to the hamsters as cute as they are they kept biting me.

I had alot of hamsters when i was a kid. They all bit me hard. I have had rats and they are so intelligent and loving. Rats and guinea pigs are just brilliant small pets to have. I think the only rodent ish pets i havnt had are chinchillas and degus. Degus are what i want to start keeping next

We had a degu when I was a student back in 2003! My flatmate worked at Matalan which was next door to pets at home and one night he found a degu in the car park. Pets at home denied all knowledge of the escaped degu and said it "must be a wild one". In north wales?! Yes thats plausible! So we had an escaped degu living with us. Degu got a tooth abscess and we took him to the vets and the vet didnt know what sort of animal he was, kept telling us he was a gerbil then he picked degu up by the tail. Degu bit the vet soooo hard... that he burst and drained the abscess very nicely thankyou and left the vet with a huge bleeding hand wound full of degu mouth pus :) Degu was a really great unexpected pet friend! Lots of attitude and very bouncy :)

That was a brilliant read. Lol made me chuckle. I have a gerbil i found in my local park.

Wild degu though. What a ***************
I have a degree in zoology and I had to google extensively to find out what a degu was back in 2003! We could tell he was some sort of south american rodent but we had no idea what kind. Pets at home confirmed his species identity however as a woman was just taking down a sign saying "new stock- degus!" as my flatmate tried to return degu and was told they had no knowledge of degus at all and had certainly never lost one... but degu was retailing for £50 as a new exotic so I suppose we did quite well out of it really and so did degu...

Love the story. They are similar to gerbils only degus can live to about 8. And apparently they are really high risk to diabetes if fed the wrong foods like too much fruit. That reminds me, there is another similar rodent called a gerd, but i never see them for sale anymore

My daughter actually got bit by a hamster at the pet store, that’s how I convinced her to switch to piggies!

I was going to like this and then thought that's not really nice, although it was a fortuitous bite! I hope it was only a nip and it didn't upset your little girl too much. Hamsters can really get hold. I had a hamster bite me really hard once, it wouldn't let go, and was hanging off my finger. Those girls get really bad tempered and hormonal!

It drew blood and the pet store people acted like it wasn’t a big deal, I guess it happens a lot. They have the hamster cages at kid level and open top so kids can pet them and handle them! My mom got bit by a gerbil when I was little and it went through the top of her fingernail! She was shaking her hand and it wouldn’t release, she finally had to pry its jaws open!
