Hi my guinea us dry skin and I noticed she’s been scratching on that same spot as well and her hair looks shorter on that spot she’s been biting does anyone know what this is and what I should do? I attached the photo of her below and circled where she has been biting and where the hair looks like it’s been trimmed and her dry skin flakes thank you.

Biting can sometimes be a sign of pain. I’m not sure what could cause the dandruff though. I would have her checked by the vet. Hope she’s okay.

Please have her checked by a vet - biting and scratching at one area may well be because of pain or irritation.

It looks possible that there might be a bit of a V shape forming (not as easy to tell in a zoomed in picture) so it’s possible that there may be mites. V shape in the hair being a sign of mange mites.

Hi

Please accept that we are neither qualified to nor able to diagnose without a hands-on examination but it looks to me like you could be potentially dealing with the very start of mange mites; the classic form creates a kind of v-shape in the middle of the back. The shorter hair is from self-barbering.

PLEASE do not home treat on spec with low dosed pet shop products that cannot cut through an acute outbreak.
