Hi there,

I have bought two beautiful bonded Pedigree boars with the intention of breeding with them , according to the shop they are ok to be bred with and then housed back together ....is this ok ? ....i have heard many different things and don't know what to do. :...
If this is the case then my only other choice is to house them seperately after i have bred with them , but i dont agree with housing them on their own :(

HELP !:0

I am afraid you won't get any advice from this forum about how to breed your guinea pigs, as it is a pro-rescue forum and discourages breeding.

Please be aware that it is against the forum rules to talk about breeding and showing. We are a pro-rescue forum. Personally, I would never breed, and certainly not from piggies I don't know the genetic make up of. We are seeing (and dealing) far too often with the sorry results of THAT!

Well at least i was asking for advice to try and do the right thing, but obviously you want to encourage ill advised breeding. It is actually just a family guinea pig ...whats the crime in that ? YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES ! THATS NOT HELPING GUINEA PIGS !

LOL ASHAMED :x

Clearly you didn't read the rules did you malletheadmalletheadmallethead

Hello. I haven been on the forum for long, and had never really thought about their being so many unwanted piggies about. I think if you want to breed your piggies you should think very carefully about it. So often you can end up with too many piggies and then what happens to them? If you give them to friends you dont know what sort of life they will have. Better to have happy much loved family pets, cant they just be that?

i cant see why you want to intentionally breed when there are so many risks involved and there are already too many pigs that need homes in rescues

There is no shame in wanting to do the best for the hundreds/thousands of uncared for unloved guinea pigs first.

by all accounts breeding guinea pigs can cause distress and danger for mother and babies so no really, no shame here.

if your intending to keep all of the babies yourself, why not rescue some instead, if your wanting to sell them, well shame on you i think, there are enough unwanted guinea pigs around that could be helped instead.

Ashamed?!
So do YOU think breeding pigs is helping them?
YOU should be very ashamed!
Take a look in the rescue & rehoming section and educate yourself!

Ohhhh I'm SOOOO ASHAMED - rescued 1000 pigs and not bred a single one - Oh the shame of it!:red:red:red:red I've not 'helped' much have I? :x

As others have said, this is a rescue friendly forum. You will not get support for breeding here. 1) It's extremely unlikely you've bought "pedigree" boars from a shop. 2) I assume the shop have no idea of their history, bad idea.
