Guinea pig death and what could have caused it?

Sadly, yesterday I had a guinea pig pass away and it was very sad. We buried her into the flower bed and we plan to plant some very pretty flowers for her. She wasn't one of the oldest guinea pigs though and her death was very sudden? Her father and mother are still alive but she was the only one who died?

It came out of nowhere because she didn't show any signs of illness at all and was eating and drinking fine, but in the morning when I checked on them she was just... laying there dead. It was super heartbreaking and as of now I am still crying over it. Could there be any reasons behind her death and should I worry about the others in the cage?

I’m sorry for your loss. I’m afraid the only way you’d know what caused her death is if an autopsy was performed.

You have her the best life and loved her - that’s the most important thing. Take good care of yourself and the two left behind.
 
I am so sorry for your loss :( Sadly guinea pigs can die from strokes or heart attacks very suddenly at any age but without an upsetting post mortem it is impossible for us to say how Chestnut died.
Be kind to yourself as you grieve x
 
There are hundreds of reasons why sudden death can happen.
It's more heartbreaking when it's not expected.
Threads on here will help you and your piggies to get over this sad time pls read them

I’m so sorry for your loss. I just lost a guinea pig too and it’s heartbreaking. May they rest in happiness ❤️
