So about a week ago one of our guinea pigs has gone a little crazy during her heat, and for the first time started chasing and mounting the other dominant guinea pig (we got two girls). We were a bit bewildered from this new behaviour, and so we took her to the vet, and he found no health problems / cysts, later that day, she has calmed down significantly, yet to this day, she has been rumbling at the other guinea pig, just like when she is in heat (although I would say less than normally).

is it possible that she is sick despide vet checking on her / getting a scan of her? She in fact popcorned yetserday, has her normal weight, and acts just like her (shows her submissive behaviour still, despide attempting to rumble and sneak up on the other piggie, but now runs away when told to bolt off).

Hi and welcome

How old is your sow? This is a rather crucial point.

She has quite obviously experienced a strong season, which can happen pretty much at all ages and are not related to ovarian cysts.

Here is some more information:
Sows: Behaviour and female health problems (including ovarian cysts)
When Sows Experience A Strong Season (videos) (the videos are from non-cystic sow, by the way)

Hello, she is going to be 3 this summer

If the hormonal/dominance behaviour continues and she seems to be constantly in season in combination with a slow weight loss, then you are likely dealing with a hormonal ovarian cyst; these are typical small but growing cysts. 3 years is right in the middle of the most common age for hormonal ovarian cysts.

Please read the information in the link in my first post.
