Guinea pig coughing? Choking? Pls help!

Hey guys I’m new to the forum,

my piggy Rupert seems to be trying to cough or maybe be choking ? Making a coughing noise and his body is making strong jerky movements. but he is still eating whilst doing so? Unsure what to do because he’s happily eating but is also doing these things too? If he was really uncomfortable I’m thinking he wouldn’t eat, but he is? Does anyone have any advice, I’m keeping an eye on him but don’t want to miss anything!

He is about a year old if that, I adopted him so we aren’t actually sure on the age.

He may just be eating too fast and getting food stuck... my pigs will cough the odd time while eating. Was it just once or twice or is he still doing it continuously?

Thank u for your reply! It seemed quite aggressive, continuous for a minute maybe! But thankfully he has stopped now, and eating his dry food! I think you are right, he eats very quickly!
