Hi everyone, I noticed that my dominant boar Guiseppe keeps climbing on his cage mate Georgie. I've only noticed it yesterday and today but wondered why he's doing it.He rumble struts when he gets off and jumps sometimes(maybe popcorning?).Hes never done it before.Any help would be appreciated.

It is very normal, mild dominance behaviour for boars and nothing to worry about in itself. The behaviour (including the popcorn afterwards) is typical for young boars. Guiseppe is just a happy little boy.

I am currently seeing the same behaviour with my young neutered boar Gethin and his old lady Tesni, who is rather amused by it! Here is a little video of Gethin; he is simply a very happy little boy!

Thanks for your reply.Guiseppe is about 3, is this normal for him to constantly do it?

As long as Georgie doesn't mind it, there is no issue. For some boars it is constantly and casually confirming their bond in a kind of "hey, best mate, here I am" way.
My 3 year old ex-breeder boar Carwyn, who'd spent most of life in a one foot square breeder box only know mounting as an expressing of happiness and excitement because their was no other way. He still runs only in very short bursts even though he has been with me for over a year now.
