Hiya I've got two guinea pigs who are a year old. They're brothers and have lived with each other quite happily since I got them a year ago.
I woke up tonight with Sammy sqealing as Ollie is chasing him around the cage. He was chasing and mounting him and didn't seem to be tiring of it. I took Ollie out of the cage for 5 minutes to see if he'd calm down but when I put him back in he just went straight for Sammy again. I've checked Sammy over for any wounds but can't see any. I left them to it for a few minutes but Ollie just wasn't giving up. I've put a divider down the middle of the cage just now, they can both see each other (it's a c&c cage). I just don't know what to do for the better.
Ollie is normally quite placid and timid but he does seem more hyped up than normal.
Like I said I don't know what to do and would appreciate any help as I don't really want to split them up.

Mine do this, and regularly!

Boars get a bit frisky and/or territorial occasionally - mine are usually like this when they are close to clean out time, and one wants a certain spot in the hay. They will chase each other and mount and wrestle relentlessly before finally getting worn out and plonking down.

It sometimes gets a bit OTT, and one will end up a bit stressed out, and chirpy, and on one occasion a swift nip to the nose of the chasing pig stopped it.

I have tried separating them, but as soon as you lift any barriers, they go at it again. You also run the risk that they don't get along after being put back together after a lengthy separation.

It's just one of the quirks of boar ownership - they'll squabble and wrestle occasionally, as long as they aren't actually fighting and drawing blood, or one isn't too stressed, then I tend to leave them to it. They get tired eventually!

they're just being boys. Rocky and marmite do this and there is a lot of squeeking but they seem to enjoy it.

my boys do it too, they're 3 (ish) and still it goes on, especially around clean out time as the others have said.

It's just boys being boys....

In fact, here's a picture of this very boarly silliness!

Poor Pickle's just trying to eat...!

I need help also, I took my boys over to see Speedy this weekend (very old and frail), Daniel is usually a nice boy but started having a go at Speedy, I plop him away and go off. Few mins later I see Daniel mounting Speedy AND his brother Carter. As of now Cart and Speed are together and i've put Daniel by himself. I am so angry at him right now

That's so funny, Oats seems to prefer sitting on Porridge's head in our house. It just makes me laugh now, at first I was very worried. I'm just happy they are not drawing blood and biting.

Putting three boys together will likely cause fighting, please dont do so, its not ideal. Sorry. If you can, put them back how they were, and consider getting a friend for Speedy?

I know, they're just usually all friendly, especially when grass is involved. As for getting a friend for Speedy, they're taking him to a vet since his health is not getting any better.

Oh, yes just like my 2. The 6 month old (Peanut Butter) is forever mounting the 15 month old (Hazelnut) when Hazelnut is eating. Hazelnut shrugs him off and Peanut Butter popcorns! Hazelnut never mounts PB.
