Hi there, I've got two young guinea pigs who are settling in and getting used to their new environment, me and my daughter, and being handled.

I have set them down for a run around the living room a few times to let them explore, forage for food, and generally enjoy a bigger environment and get used to being in the same room as us.

However when it's time to put them back in their cage I have the devil of a time trying to catch them, having to block up the hidey-holes behind the sofa then try to catch hold of them under the table as they scurry about.

From reading other posts it seems like a box that I can put food in for them to run into, then close the entrance and lift it up is a good idea (like a cat carrying box) but I've no idea what it's called or where to buy one.

Can anyone suggest where I could buy a "guinea pig catching box" or if there is a better method for recapturing the little fellas? Thanks!

(seems "x" then close brackets makes a heart emoticon, how sweet...)

I use one of those carboard guinea tubes and just block both ends with my hands and pick my skittish one up that way.

I have to guide her into it and she doesn't always go in immediately but it less stressful for her that being picked up, which she doesn't like at the moment.

I do have a box for her but a) she doesn't go into it if she thinks I'm trying oto trap her and b) when I put a 2nd dorrway into it she manages to escape because it's quite an awkward box to grab hold off.

Sadly, my rescue pig isn't so greedy that any amount of food tricks her :))
