Hi everyone, I'm moving back to university in a couple of weeks and were moving into a different house. Sadly I got to choose rooms last and i have the smallest room so the only place id be able to fit my guinea pig cage would be under my desk.

Of course Ill move it out from under the desk sometimes but it wont be possible when i need the floor space. I'm worried that there wont be enough light for the piggies whilst theyre under there, do you think it would be okay?

ps, when I'm in the room i usually let them out to run around in the room.

Could you getna daylight bulb for your room for extra light for them? Mabe you could put a puppy pen up formwhen you are out so that they can still have some extra space?

Possibly but the light bulb is far away from the desk. It's also an attic room so I have a tiny window
I tried that once last year but my pesky two learnt how to jump over the play pen and I came back to a few bitten wires haha

You can get little battery powered lights that have a sticky bit on the back. You could pop one under the desk and switch it on for a few hours.

Or could you put the cage on your bed and just slide it under the desk at night time?

Could you place strategic mirrors around the room to bounce the light around?
Do you know what I mean?
Ohhh yeah that's a good idea. I already brought in loads of mirrors to make the room seem bigger than it actually is haha

Oh yeah that's a good idea, I think I will. I just feel bad that it won't be natural light for them.

My cage is really big so I don't think I'd be able to lift it by myself hahah but I could slide it from under the desk. That's what I planned to do. It's just annoying that the cage will take up literally all of the floor space. But id rather the guinea pigs be comfortable

You could attach a strip of adhesive led lights under the desk as well , very low consumption and you can choose warm colours too ... chromotheraphy and all that :)

Plead the case with the other girls, tell them when you get drunk you could fall over the cage.
Having had a daughter in Uni, I know what she used to get up to.
:yikes:

Unfortunately I don't really get on with my housemates and I already asked for a bigger room for the sake of the guinea pigs but they continued to argue how "guinea pigs don't pay rent, they're really quite awkward people so there's no arguing with them. So far they seem to be okay under the desk and some light hits the cage

Can't you move in with another group of girls, your going to go mad having to put up with bitchy, girls for 3/4 years.

I'm in my final year and I can't really afford to pay 2 rents while I find someone to live in my old room. I wanted to move out but I'm just going to put up with them for the year
