Hi, my guinea pig is breathing this way and I don’t know if it is normal since it looks fast. Can someone please help?
(he sneezed in this video)

You will need to upload a video to a third party site such as YouTube and then post a link to it here.

However, if you have any health concerns, then your piggy needs to be seen by a vet so he can have a hands on check and listen to your piggy’s chest.

I just checked again, my guinea pig stopped breathing fast, I think he only does it when he’s scared, he tries to hide and breaths fast. Idk. He went back to his cage and he’s breathing normal now!

Ok, do see a vet if you are concerned though
Does he live with another piggy? They are highly social herd animals and must always be kept in pairs. A piggy who lives by himself will be very lonely

He doesn’t live with another piggy, because I am ALWAYS with him. I let him roam around, and when I tried putting him with one of his kids, he was trying to be a bit aggressive because I was paying a little more attention to the other. I only have him but since I have so much time for him I only got one. Should I get another? He gets treated like a baby!

He does need to live with another piggy. Sadly it doesn’t matter how much time you spend with him, it isnt enough as you and he cannot speak the same language. He will be lonely without another guinea pig.

Character compatibility is vital to a successful bond. You cannot just put two piggies together and expect to all be ok. The best way to find a character compatible friend is to take your piggy dating at a rescue centre. That way, your piggy can Choose his own friend, so you can be assured of compatibility. for two boars to live together, their cage needs to measure at least 150x60cm, but 180x60cm is the recommended cage sise
if you were to buy another piggy from a pet shop, which of course in some cases is the only way to find a new friend for a piggy if there are not any rescue centres around, then you do need a plan b in mind if the two don’t bond, and then must then live in separate but side by side cages.
Aggression and dominance must not be confused. when you keep two boars together, you must always handle the dominant boar first as you must respect their hierarchy. If you handle the submissive first, you can cause an increase in dominance as the dominant piggy then has to reinforce his position.
