Hi there, I need some help. I recently adopted two guinea pigs, who previously lived together for about a year and never had any problems. When I brought them home and install them in the new environment, one of them start to bully the other one! In the vicinity live my other three guinea pigs. I already put an igloo so poor piggy can have some escape/rest from the other one. I have adopted before, but never had this problem.
Can I please have some advise?

They are females, not blood, just fur. I try to intervene every single time they fight.

I am sorry; it can well be that there have been underlying problems that the move to a new home has brought to the fore when the dominance had to be reestablished in the new territory. Personally, I would separate for the time being.

Have you rehomed from one of our recommended rescues or privately? Which country are you in?

Sometimes a new environment may scare piggies. They tend to take it out on whoever is nearest & that is their companion. I'd either separate with a divider if that is possible so that they can still see each other or if you've go time then to sit with them & monitor the situation. Try feeding them a little extra in treats as this may take their mind off the change.

Hi, thank you for the reply. Atm I don't have enough space to separate them, but I stayed with them and when I couldn't I have a baby monitor in.
I don't know if is one of your rescue centre or not, is one in Wickford , Essex UK.

You can separate with a wire cake cooling rack or two cable tied together down middle of cage so a short while.

I Thank you, but I can't do that, my guinea pigs live under my bed and are free roamers. yesterday we bought some drawer from Ikea and modify them, so my piggies w but they are still fighting. Last might we left the igloo down far away from the drawer and we haven't heard any noises. Hopefully in time they will get better. ill have plenty of room, and we make two rooms
