I have a guinea pig namenamed Rodney that is a year and a half, and I noticed that his stomach is pretty swollen. He is walking strangely, a bit spread out, and is acting pretty timid, but he is eating normal and as far as I can tell, going to the bathroom normal as well. I just brought home a new baby guinea pig a few days ago, so the power struggle has been constant, so I'm wondering if that could be causing all of this. I'm not sure what to do. The baby now seems to be picking on Rodney and upsetting him, so I'm wondering if I should seperate them for the night while I try and figure out if he's sick. I don't know if I should be rushing him to the vet or not. Please let me know you're suggestions.

I would get him checked over. How did you bond the new arrival?

It was my first time introducing a new guinea pig in, so I made sure it was a neutral environment and plenty of space, hay, and hideys for the both of them. They were both pretty adamant at being the dominant one but it has gotten better over the days. The vet doesn't open for another 4 hours, so I'll have to wait and see how he is and then bring him in

Welcome to our friendly forum! I would take him for a vet check just to be on the safe side.

Hi! It is likely that the bonding has aggravated the situation; however it will not cause it unless there is already an underlying issue. Please see a vet for zantac/ranitidine, painkiller and a gut stimulant like emeprid even if it is not severe bloat. It still requires medication. Take your piggies off any fresh veg for the duration, but if possible, leave them together.
Bloat, Gi Stasis ( No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

@Kellycuth22 Ditto to the above. You will need to take him off veg until he recovers though. It sounds odd as he'd been fine on it until now, but he needs time for his stomach to settle and continuing with veg won't help it get better.

I have a pig who is going through this at the moment. I haven't split him from his cagemate, I just get his friend out at meal times so he can still have a bit of veg.
