Hi, I’m just coming on to ask a question!
So yesterday we brought my piggie cookie to the vet because I noticed she was a bit bloated! The vet gave her an injection to clear the gas but I read on this forum that someone downloaded a vibrate app and put their phone under their piggie and I’ve done that and I'm basically just wondering how long it takes for this to process?
I'm going to buy gripe water for her aswell!

Thank you!
She’s eating fine and taking cc that the vet gave me, she’s eating lots of hay aswell,
I’m just wondering how long it actually takes for the gas to pass out of her😊

That all sounds good.
With a piggy prone to bloat I would always assume a good 10 days to 2 weeks for a full recovery, and for the stomach to settle back down.
Depending on what you think may have triggered the bloat you might want to be careful with fresh food during this time.

With Lucy (my bloaty pig) I always stopped all fresh for at least 3 - 5 days after an episode, and would then slowly introduce a small amount of fresh back into her diet over a period of another 5-7 days.
For example on Day 5 and 6 she would get a small strip of Peter, on day 7-8 a strip of pepper and some lettuce, on day 9-10 pepper, lettuce and coriander, etc.

Ohh I’ll do that then so on Sunday or Monday I’ll try giving her veg again
See when you syringe give your piggie water after cc did a small bit of yellow liquid fly out? Because I just give cookie some water and as I was doing so, some yellow liquid came out and I’m thinking it could just be the veg/gas starting to come up

Hi

Please re-introduce veg slowly with only one more veg per meal for the first 3 meals to get the microbiome time to get used to it. I usually start with fresh herbs, as recovering piggies like them best and they give a burst of vitamins and trace elements without usually causing bloating. I leave lettuce and other rich foods for last.
You may also want to review your diet for the longer term. Some commonly fed food groups are actually not at all good for the microbiome and can contribute to dysbiosis (overgrowth of the wrong kind of gut bacteria, which can cause bloating or diarrhea).
Long Term Balanced General And Special Needs Guinea Pig Diets (see chapter Special Diets and also review how many pellets you are feeding)

If you have an issue with repeated bloating, then it is worth a check whether the problem is really sitting in the digestive system or is caused by a problem outside (radiating pain or pressure on the gut can cause bloating as a secondary problem).
