I’m having trouble with both of my female guinea pigs. One of them is about 5 years old while the other one is only about 4 months old. They have gotten along well so far up until the past couple of days. My younger one Rizzo will not stop sniffing my older one sandys butt. She follows her around and will not stop sniffing it. I can tell it’s annoying sandy due to the noise she constantly makes when it’s happening. I cannot seem to get Rizzo to leave her alone. What can I do? What do I need to do? I need help please.

What noise does she make when her bum is being sniffed? And does she run away or anything like that? How is the younger pig behaving in general - eating (weight) and other general wellness?

* she makes a complaining noise and ive heard her chatter her teeth a couple of times. She does run away. On the other hand Rizzo is healthy. She just had a vet appointment not too long ago and the vet said she was doing very well. She behaves okay other than just not leaving her alone.

Have you noticed any soft poops from Rizzo? Sometimes a piggy with a poorly tummy can try to get to the other piggy’s bum to eat poop. It’s natures way helping to settle a poorly tummy
Are their weekly weigh ins showing anything? Perhaps switch to daily weighing for a while in case there is something going on. Sometimes sudden things like this, changes in behaviour, can be a first alert to something not quite right health wise.

I have been noticing some swelling in her stomach so I figured it was bloating. I’ve been trying to lessen her food and provide her more water. What else can I do to help it?

In that case and combined with the fact she may be going searching for poop, she needs to see a vet. Bloat should not be left unchecked.
Have you been weighing them weekly? Please switch to daily weighing while there are health concerns so you can be sure she is eating enough hay.

What do you mean by lessen her food? Ensure hay is always provided in unlimited amounts, veg is one cup per day and that pellets are kept to just one tablespoon per day. Although if your piggy does have bloat you need to stop giving veg altogether. The guide below gives details on bloat

Digestive Disorders: Diarrhea - Bloat - GI Stasis (No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

Yes I weight them weekly, she hasn’t gained any weight, only a few ounces in the month I’ve had her. I currently don’t have the money to take her to the vet since I just took her to one for ring worms. I’m a college student living paycheck to paycheck basically. Is there anything else I can do to help her😔💔

One of my boars displayed the same behaviour following a course of antibiotics that upset the microbial balance in his gut - hence he was after the caecotrophs from the other boar.
A course of fibreplex helped. But I would always consult the vet first

She isn’t lethargic, she drinking half of her bottle each day. She pop corns. Just the swelling and bothering my other guinea pig sandy is all I’m really noticing....

I’m sorry you’re in a tough situation. Unfortunately your best bet is ruling out anything medical. Is there any way you could borrow some money from family or friends?

Can you tell us, in grams, how much weight she has gained.
I’m sorry your situation is difficult, but if there is something wrong with your piggy then she needs to see a vet for diagnosis and treatment. We don’t know why her stomach is swelling but its definitely not something that can be left unchecked and coupled with the fact she is after poop does signify there is something medical going on.
