Hi,

Just wondering what type of bedding people use for their guinea pigs? I used to use wood shavings but one of my pigs suffers from allergies so switched to paper. What have people found is the best?

Thank you!

i use megazorb, aubiose, basic bliss, vet bed, whatever i fancy ! just some herds pee alot more than other so use more absorbent bedding for those eg megazorb and Aubiose.the bedding review that has been posted in the above post is the best place to start.what bedding is right for you and your piggies is the best bedding.we all have different ideas, budget, preference, and choice are all that determines the best bedding for you and your piggies ! !

I use fleece on one rotation and noodle bath mats on the other, the bath mats I find easier to clean, just make sure no bio laundry powder is used when washing bedding :)

Hi Eileen, I have just started using Aubiose and noticed on the packet (advice if using for horses) that you need to wet the floor so that it activates the liquid absorbing properties or something like that... might sound a daft question but do you moisten the flooring first when you use with your guinea pigs? I haven't done this as only just read it. Thanks.

I never have and I’ve been using it for 4 1/2 years. I love it.

Thanks Eileen-have only used twice now but just noticed that advice-didn't think I needed to wet it beforehand but just doubted myself! Thanks for replying so swiftly! It's brilliant at keeping my piggies dry so very pleased too.

Hi,no you do not put water onto aubiose.i use a 1 inch layer.the wee all collects at the base, keeps the top dry.good luck !

if you have patience and time, do fleece. if not, paper bedding. I just got fleece and I have to clean it everyday, also wash it often. also if hay drops, its going to get stuck, and you'll have to wash it with the hay since it literally does not come out
