this is a bit of a weird one.. so because of the cold weather I’ve been using more shavings and sawdust to keep my piggies warm.. but I end up with so many bags of waste but not enough bin space and it seems such a waste.. what does everyone else do with the rubbish when they change the piggies bed.
Fleece isn’t really an option for me because I can’t handle any extra washing and dealing with all the hay in the washing machine (I’m not being lazy but work full time and have a house to run etc..)

I pile up the bin bags in our garage and take them to the tip every few weeks. I chuck 2 x 80ltr bags every week!

You could take it to local allotment or post on social media or gumtree ect to see if anyone wants to collect it for use on allotments. We have a compost bin that we chuck guinea pig waste in but we’ve never actually had any compost out of it lol :)

maybe change the bedding so it is absorbent and reduces the amout of time, cleanouts, money and waste.hemp bedding is good as it lasts a week, only need approx an inch so lasts longer.Going to the tip,or asking allotments to take waste.my tip recycles guinea pig waste and then sells the compost to the public from its recycling plants.

I take mine to the local tip. I use wood shavings too and we end up with 3 - 4 black bags a week. I’m lucky in that our local tip is about 2 minutes drive away.

Why don't you use carefresh bedding , you only need to put it where the toilet area is ,that's what I do !

I use fleece.. . Once a week I go to the launderette and it's all washed in 23 minutes! So much faster than my washing machine 2 1/2 hours! In their hay tray I use Fitch - I empty this in the black bin and put any hay in the garden waste bin now..
