Does anyone know of a person who would bathe my piggies for me? I really want to do them on my own but need someone to show me how to do them as i have no idea how they are going to react as they are all scaredy cats and wont let me near them to stroke them still...

I am in Stafford in the Midlands and can catch them to get them to where they need to be but i want them to have a bath so i can check them out as well and as they have had mites before (with previous owner) i want to prevent it coming back...

Telford isnt too far away for my piggies!

I will pm you (if i can!)

Thanks You!

I bath mine in a cat litter tray but inside their run, so if they want to just step out they can.
It is always a llittle scary when bathing for the first time and each piggy will react differently. Some will be ok and like it, others will howl and kick ::)

I always blow-dry them on a warm setting afterwards and then generally tires them out and they lie down to have a kip after. Smelling nice and sweet! :smitten:

The 3 i have are still extremely hand shy. I want to handle them as little as possible and only if they need to be handled (vets visits and moving them etc). They wil sniff a finger and come up to the cage if you have food but no stroking ::)
Its not the best way to pick them up but you have to go in from above because you cant get near them any other way...

If they were more confident around me i would not have a problem i think but i need an experienced set of hands to help me!

Its just nice to be able to check them over properly and get them bathed all in one go!

I've had very nervous pigs, it does get easier over time but I understand you want to be able to check them and make sure they are ok.

I used a bowl to scoop my nervous pigs up and put them in a laundry basket to carry them around in (I still use the basket incase they wriggle and I drop them) I also used a thin pair of garden gloves when picking them up so if I did get a nip it wouldn't hurt.

As for bathing I use the big bath and fill the sink up and use a jug to wash them that way I find they don't spook as much.

They soon gained my trust, its natural for them to be frightened. :)

Good thing is they are trained to go into a carrying case when put in so it is easier to get them when they are confined and i will def use the gardening gloves... they havent nipped yet but then again who knows when they are frightened!
