Hi everyone! I have 2 beautiful girlies! One is a long haired guinea pig and the other is a short haired guinea pig! Caring for my short haired guinea pig (brushing) is very easy, but my long haired pig gets matts of wood shaving and dropping all in her fur and near her bum! She won’t let me cut them out or anything! Every time I try to cut her hair it looks messy! I’ve tried bathing her and it does work but I’ve read bathing to often is bad for the piggies fur! Also I would have to bath the other pig!
Thank you!

Don’t worry about her looking messy when you cut her hair but keeping the hair of long haired piggies cut short is important. You want to cut off any hair which drags on the ground, particularly the hair around her bottom and back legs.
I have a long haired piggy and he doesn’t like grooming, hair cuts etc but it is essential he has it done.

Piggies should not bathed routinely but if she is very dirty, then a bum bath can be carried out occasionally.

Just wanted to add that if you bathe one piggy (which you should really try to avoid with hair cutting and wipe downs with a damp flannel when possible) you do not need to automatically bathe the other piggy.
