I notice my 5 year old guinea pig has hair loss (bilateral) and I assumed it was hormonal, the result of very small ovarian cysts perhaps. Because of recurrent upper respiratory problems, I wouldn't risk her being operated on to be spayed. The patches are bald patches.
However, today I noticed that she was actually chewing her own hair off as her side was wet.
She had lots of things to occupy her so it can't be boredom. So, my question is, why is she doing it?
