Hello! My guinea has started acting weird lately. He is almost 5 years old. The thing is that randomly he sits most of the day in his little wooden home and he wont come out. If you try to get him out he just runs to drink and after drinking he just goes back to his little shelter. He eats but not close to how much he ate couple of weeks ago. Today I checked his paws in case he had maybe a nail problem but everything was fine. Another thing is that today he walked very strangely. Like he has coordination problems or such? I just can’t figure out what is wrong. He has different kinds of guinea pig foods and he gets alot of vegetables every day (maybe even too many). I’m really worried about my little friend. Can someone maybe give me idea what could he wrong with him? :,(

I’m sorry to hear about your piggie, Unfortunately he sounds very unwell as will need to see a vet today. With what you’re describing his body sounds like it is starting to shut down, please syringe feed him with critical care or soaked pellets until you can see a vet asap.
5 years old is a good age

It’s important you switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead make sure you weigh him every morning so you can monitor his hay intake.
Hay is the most important part of their diet and it is vital he eats enough of it. If he is losing weight then he isn’t eating enough hay and it is essential you step in with syringe feeding recovery feed to replace the lost hay intake.

You also need to take him to a vet to find out what is wrong with him asap.
