Guinea Nail Loss

hi

I've just been cutting dudleys nails as normal and just as we got one of his front ones in the clipper he moved and its pulled his whole nail out. Obviously it's bleeding and painful to him and I feel terrible so how do I stop it from bleeding and what can I do? :-( poor little boy, he's curently being distracted by a carrot

Just keep pressure on it until it stops.It happens, don't beat yourself up about it

If I cut a nail & it bleeds then I apply some cornflower until it stops bleeding. It usually doesn't bleed for long as it's only a small blood vessel. You can also you Bob Martin's dusting powder. If you have any Metacam (for Dogs) in the house you could give this at a dose the vet has previously prescribed. If bottle doesn't have guinea pig dose on it then just give 0.2ml. If it's cat's Metacam then only 0.1ml. If bleeding persists it best to take piggy to the vets or if you have a local rescue, they may be able to administer first aid & advice.
