My Guinea female:bye: passed away and she left 2 babies with the dady is it okey for them to stay together or should i separate them ... cause i know that the dad will die if he stays alone and btw the babies have like 2 or 3 weeks and i honestly dunno the gender of each one.

BIG HUGS
I'm so sorry 💔 sleep well little one 🌈

There is a section on here with an explanation and pictures on how to sex the babies which if any of them are female babies from the males (including dad) they will need to be separated at 3 weeks old or you will end up with another litter of babies.
There will be more experienced members along who will be able to post a link to the actual threads shortly.

So sorry to learn of your sad news. I hope the babies thrive. More experienced advice will follow

I’m sorry for your loss.

is the ‘dad‘ neutered? He won’t die if he is alone but you cannot keep an unneutered male with females
Do you mean the babies are 2-3 weeks old? If so, then any male babies needs separating from females at 3 weeks of age or 250g in weight, otherwise you run the risk of further pregnancies when any female baby has her first season. Please do sex the babies yourself straight away and we can help with any further advice on living arrangements

Hi and welcome

Please take the time to read and look at all the comparison pictures in our sexing guide. No sow should be with a boar after 3 weeks; the earliest documented pregnancy happened at 24 days.

Dad can still live next door to any daughters if necessary and interact with them through the bars. Use dad to have a look at first and feel for his penis shaft under skin (there is a nice picture with a big arrow for where to feel) and also gently pry his slit apart. Then have a look at the babies once you know what to look for. You will find that sows are perfectly flat and soft where baby boys have a tiny penis bump but they don't have a straight slit; they have a very distinctive fleshy seal just below the rim of the slit.

How did you come by your mixed gender parent pair?

I'm sorry for your loss. It is really important to figure out the sex of the babies. Baby guinea pigs can get pregnant starting around 3 weeks of age, and obviously that's not very safe or healthy for them. You've got dad for comparison purposes and there are pics on the pregnancy board to help you figure out the sex of the babies. A male baby can stay with dad, but a female will have to be separated. Dad won't die alone, though obviously he will be happier with interaction through the bars or post neutering if both babies are female and you want to house them together. Best of luck and, again, sorry for your loss.
