Last week we took in 2 abandoned female piggies- Fifi and Peppa. We have been told that Fifi is Peppa's mum although they are both very young. We think Fifi is about 8 months old and Peppa about 3 months old. On their first night with us Fifi was protective of Peppa and would explore their new home first then check to see if Peppa was ok. Now Fifi permanently seems to have the hump grrrr and creeps around the hutch growling with her back arched. Sometimes she won't let Peppa back in the house and occasionally we hear Peppa squeal. I don't think Fifi is biting Peppa, and sometimes Peppa does wind her up pow-pow. We give them their veg in 2 piles which has stopped the arguments over food but they share their nuggets and water bottle.
Has anyone got any ideas why Fifi is so grumpy and how we can stop it. We don't want to have to seperate them if we can help it.:{

Aww oh dear. Have they got seperate houses or one house to share? may be worth getting them a smaller one each if they only have one. Hope they sort out their differences soon for you.

They share the same house, might get them seperate ones. Thanks for your advice.

Hopefully that will help. One of my pairs have a house together and get on fine snuggling up with each other. The other pair have seperate houses. I think it very much depends on the piggys. Good luck and let me know how it goes. :)

They seem to live happily together 75% of the time but then one of them does something to wind the other up and the growling starts! Someone mentioned that it could be that we've got a male piggie living in a hutch next to theirs and that could be making them a bit competitive with each other. I'll try them with seperate houses and see if that makes them a bit nicer to each other!

i have two boys and at first i had just one house for them but when they were scared they would both run to the house and Marley would stand in the doorway grumbling at Ozzy so poor Ozzy had nowhere to go! I have given them an extra house now and it has made things better, they do snuggle up together in one but can have their alone time too!

yeah I would try getting a house for each of them, I have two girls together and they won't share a house, so I have 2 pigloos for them and they have two food bowls each, but they share the mix bowl and the water.
if it gets too bad maybe bath them together and then put them back in together, but make sure you've change the bedding and everything before they do back in - I had to do that twice with mine, but it did help :)
