For the first time this year I started growing herbs outside in pots for my boys. Unfortunately something is eating them and I feel that it’s been a waste of time. There are slug/snail trials in the pots so I think these are the culprits

Is there anyway I can keep these critters away? I don’t want to kill them and even if I did I wouldn’t want to feed my boys herbs grown amid slug pellets

You can put rough things on top of the soil in the pot as they don’t like crossing them such as crushed egg shells, sharp grit or wool pellets. Copper strips around the pots can also stop them from wanting to cross. Growing herbs on the outer edge of the pot such as mint (piggy safe) and chives (not piggy safe) can help also as they don’t seem to like those and will stay away from whatever you are growing in the middle which you want to keep them away from
