Growing grass indoors on window syl?

I want to grow my own grass for the pigs, i have no garden. What soil do i use thats safe? Compost?

Do i use normal grass seed from wilko?
 
I have used home made compost in the past as well as some commercial potting compost. Both have been fine.

ok il buy it, just hoping no chemicals are in it. So i can use normal packs of grass seed?
 
Yep normal grass seed is fine. I have used normal seed and Timothy grass seed. You can always ask if the commercial compost had chemicals in it or email the people who make it and ask if you want to make sure.

How successful have people been growing grass in winter ?
 
It grows really well in doors I used to do it when I only had 2 piggies. I don't have room for enough now I've got 6 to feed. I tried it in an unheated greenhouse, it grew but when the weather got damp and cold it went mouldy.
