Hi,
My 3 and half month old sow sisters are getting increasingly more aggressive towards each other. They are both constantly teeth chattering with their heckles standing up on the neck/back. They show their teeth, nudge each other, chase each other and make a racket. I'm worried they are going to bite each other next. They look like they nip each other. I've increased their hutch size and put two lots if food in different places. They have their separate sleeping quarters/huts. What ever one does the other seams to want it and they start all over again with the teeth chattering. I've read that at 4 months siblings go through a 'make it or break it' stage where they either make friends or enemies. I don't want to have to separate them. What can i do Any suggestions welcome.

if you could get a neutered bore... who is a calm one... that could work...
cleo one of my sows... would not bond to another sow... lots and lots of failed attempts... she was extremly vicious....
so i got her oliver a neutered bore... he is so chilled out... everytime she had a hissy fit he just ignored her...
and eventually he had a calming effect of her... she now lives happily in a herd with 9 other sows...
you could always contact a rescue... and take them down to pick there new hubby... as theres always lots of neutered bores... waiting for there wifeys for lifey...
oliver changed cleo from an agressive piggie to a lovely relaxed one...

Oh yeah...a neutered boar will work too :))

basically you need to add another dynamic to the mix :)

you see sometimes I know what I'm talking about! lol :))

lmao... :))
i rarely know what I'm on about...!... i swear people must read some of the stuff i write and think I'm a right retard... haha...:(|)

Try and add another pig, whether it is a n. boar or sow it is up to you. Hope they relax a bit!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm having the same problem. I have two girls around the same age as Romeo's. What if getting another pig is not an option?

hmmm they should settle eventually, there might still be issues with them when one's in season, depending on how they act then. But keep a close eye on them and if it starts becoming more than just 'unsettled' you might need to consider another piggie.

They live in an outside hutch and I'm worried three piggies will be cramped? Especially when my two are full grown. They have access to a larger 6 ft run on good weather days also. So do you mix your two with new one at rescue centre to see if they hit it off? Will I need a new hutch for neutral territory? Could I add an older piggy? Thanks.
